John Harrington
has been the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Briarcrest Christian School for 7 seasons. During his time,
he has led the Saints to 155 wins and 77 losses and his teams have qualified for 6 TSSAA State Tournaments. Briarcrest
Christian captured the 2005 State runner-up trophy and in 2008 the Saints collected their first TSSAA State Boys Championship
with a 67-48 victory over Memphis CBHS. During the exciting 2008 season the Saints also became the first Memphis school
in the 25 year tournament history to win the prestigous Arby's Classic held in Bristol, TN. Coach Harrington was
selected the Commercial Appeal Best of Prep's "Coach of the Year" in 2005 and the Basketball Coaches of Tennessee
"Coach of the Year" in 2008. Before coming to Briarcrest, Coach
Harrington spent 18 years at Bartlett High School where he was a part of a program that won 414 games and lost only 179. The
Bartlett basketball program won 5 District and 6 Region Championships and the 2001 team won the TSSAA State Championship. Coach
Harrington is married to the former Heather McCommom (BCS Class of '87) and they have 2 children, Trey and Tyler. Russell Dykes enters his second season with the Briarcrest coaching
staff after spending three years as the head coach at Houston High School. Coach Dykes has 5 years experience as a head
coach (2 years at Millington) and eight years as an assistant coach. Six of the years as an assistant were spent
at Bartlett where he worked with both Coach Harrington. He has been a part of teams that have played in 4 sub-state
games, won the 2001 State Championship and in 2006 at Houston his team led the Shelby Metro Area in points given up as
they held opponents to 44 pts a game. Coach Dykes graduated from Bartlett High School in 1991, from the University
of Alabama in 1996 with a BA in Education, and from Cumberland University in 2001 with MAE. Coach Dykes is married to
Ellen Dykes and they have two daughters, Belle (9) and Reagan (5).
Josh Baney enters his 5th year as an
assistant coach with the Briarcrest basketball program. Coach Baney is a graduate of Gateway Christian School (Memphis
Home School Association) where he enjoyed a successful basketball career. Josh continued his education at the University
of Tennessee where he graduated with a major in Sports Management and a minor in Business. Josh was a member of the
men's basketball program under Coach Buzz Peterson and Coach Bruce Pearl and worked for the women's program under Coach Pat
Summitt. After graduating from UT, Josh played professional basketball in Quito, Ecudor before joining the Saints.
Chris Rinehart is beginning his
3nd year on the Briarcrest coaching staff. Coach Rinehart is the head freshman boy's coach and also assists with the
JV and Varsity teams. Prior to coming to Briarcrest, Coach Rinehart began coaching at Arkansas Baptist in Little
Rock,AR. where he was a part of the Class A State Championship team. Coach Rinehart has also served as the head coach
at Sheridan Jr. High School and Calvary Christian School. Coach Rinehart is married to the former Krista Tolleson and
they are the parents of four sons, Michah-15, Noah-14, Jeremiah-11 and Jonah-8. Amory Sanders enters his 2nd season
with the Briarcrest basketball program as an assistant coach for the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams.
Amory played for Coach Harrington at Bartlett High School where he was a two-time Region MVP and a McDonalds All-American
nominee. After graduating from Bartlett, Amory received an athletic scholarship to play for Three Rivers Community College
where he was All-Region, All-Conference, Defensive Player of the Year and a 4 time Player of the Week. After graduating
from Three Rivers, Amory played at Southeast Missouri State University where he led the NCAA in 3 point % his senior year.
While at SEMO, Amory helped lead his team to the NCAA tournament and a 1st round loss to LSU. Amory graduated from SEMO
in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies and is currently the senior broker at Privacy Residential Mortgage.
